In case you're wondering whether to spend the time and perhaps money to read Rita Nakashima Brock and Rebecca Ann Parker's rather thick book titled Saving Paradise: How Christianity Traded Love of This World for Crudifixion and Empire (Beacon Press, 2008), here's a little assistance: a lecture by Rita followed by a sermon by Rebecca. Some of you might be satisfied with what you get here, but I think a lot of you will want to read the book when you're done.
